Tabby vs Splitwise

Both split group bills. The real difference is where you do it, and whether everyone has to install something first.

The short answer

Splitwise is a dedicated app for splitting shared costs, and it does that well. It has been around a long time and plenty of people already have it installed.

I built Tabby differently. Rather than ask a group to take on another app, I put it inside the Telegram chat the group is already using. You add the bot once, and after that splitting a bill is just a message — sent in the same thread where you were working out where to eat.

Why Tabby

If your group is already on Telegram, there is nothing to set up. Nobody downloads an app, nobody creates an account, and the expense gets logged the moment it happens — not three weeks later, when someone finally asks who owes what.

Tabby also keeps track of your own spending, not just the shared bills. The coffee you bought alone and the dinner you split end up in the same place. That is the part I could never get from an app built only for splitting.
