Tabby learns who's in the group from whoever speaks in it, so there's no member list to maintain before you can split something.

You get three choices: split it equally, item by item, or a custom split. Item by item walks one dish at a time, and you answer in the same syntax you already use — @names to share a dish, @name amount to divide it unevenly.
Tax, service charge and discounts are spread across the items in proportion, so the shares still add up to what the bill actually charged.
In a group the photo needs a caption that tags someone — @all, an @handle, or a tap-to-tag. Without one Tabby leaves it alone, so a group full of holiday photos doesn't get read as a stack of bills.
Tabby supports two modes for groups. Switch anytime with /togglelistenmode:
Listen Mode ON is great for trip groups where every message is an expense. Turn it OFF for casual group chats where you only occasionally log.
